John McDowell, Executive Director
|
John McDowell recently became Executive Director at IHN. He has held several jobs assisting low-income persons. Most recently, he helped resettle refugees at Refugee and Immigration Services where he was Resettlement Coordinator, locating and setting up housing for arriving families. He grew up in North Carolina but has lived in Roanoke for over 25 years. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and holds graduate degrees from Princeton Seminary and Duke.

Drew Purcell, Case Manager
|

Drew Purcell serves as Case Manager at IHN. His background and experience is in social work and Christian ministry. He has managed and helped to direct two emergency shelters and has served locally as an associate pastor and chaplain for a home health agency. Drew holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from North Carolina State University and a Master of Divinity degree from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. He has lived in Roanoke since 2000.

Meredith Roller, Volunteer & Event Coordinator

Meredith Roller joined IHN part-time in December 2007. She serves as Volunteer and Event Coordinator. Meredith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Roanoke College. She works with our donors, serves as staff coordinator for fundraisers and special events, works as a liaison between congregation coordinators/volunteers and IHN staff and assists the director and case manager with the day-to-day work of IHN. A native Roanoker, Meredith moved back to the area in 2005.

Stephen Niamke

Stephen Niamke has served as a weekend supervisor since July of 2003. He is an Employment Specialist with the City of Roanoke's Department of Social Services. Stephen is also a certified instructor in First Aid, AED, and Adult/Child/Infant CPR, and is completing his certification in mediation through Roanoke's Conflict Resolution Center. Stephen is passionate about teaching and community service, and ironically, as an Employment Specialist, says that his goal is to be unemployed!
